Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find a list of the most common questions being asked regarding cabin crew job and the recruitment process. Please note that all this section and this website refer to these airlines only – EMIRATES, ETIHAD, QATAR

The list of questions is constantly updated. If you don’t find your question, please do not hesitate to contact me.

There are two ways how to join the airline:

  1. Attend an Open Day.
  2. Apply online through the airline’s career website.

First of all, ensure that you meet all the minimum requirements for the job.

If yes, attend an Open Day or submit an online application.

There may be slight differences in the minimum requirements between the airlines however generally speaking, you need to meet these requirements:

  • At least 21 years of age

  • Arm reach of 212 cm while standing on tiptoes

(EMIRATES: In addition to the Arm reach, you also need to be at least 160 cm tall)

  • High school graduate (Grade 12)

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

  • No visible tattoos while you’re in EMIRATES or ETIHAD cabin crew uniform (cosmetic and bandage coverings aren’t allowed)

(QATAR: No tattoo allowed even if you can hide it under uniform)

The exact minimum requirements by each airline:

EMIRATES

ETIHAD

QATAR

Unfortunately due to the ongoing pandemic situation, recruitment is limited, however, we see some progress. The airlines are recalling previously dismissed cabin crew and are now accepting online applications from the aspired cabin crew.

This page as well as the FB page is updated on a regular basis and shows the latest cabin crew jobs opportunities.

The minimum age is 21. These airlines do not mention the maximum age. However, it is generally known to be between 33-35. These airlines prefer younger candidates however if you are an older candidate, you may still apply and sell your skills which the younger candidates are missing.

EMIRATES and ETIHAD:

If you can hide it while in the cabin crew uniform, then you can have a tattoo.

QATAR: No tattoo is allowed even if you can hide it under the uniform.

If you think that you can hide it from the recruiter during the Open or Assessment Day then go ahead, nobody will ask you to remove clothes during the recruitment process.

However, when filling up an online application or pre-employment documents, you will be asked to declare any tattoos. Any false information may lead to the termination of your contract.

There is also an airline medical check once hired, and if your tattoo is discovered during the thorough medical check then your contract will be automatically terminated without a further discussion.

This depends on how big is your scar or birthmark and where exactly it is located. It will be decided by the recruiter if it is an issue or not.

Yes, you can wear glasses as a cabin crew however, these need to be approved by the airline’s grooming officer. The glasses need to match the uniform design.

Braces are not allowed while performing cabin crew duty. You can attend the recruitment process wearing braces (if you cannot remove them) and inform the recruiter (if asked) when exactly you will be removing them for a good.

Hijab is not part of cabin crew uniform by any of these airlines therefore it cannot be worn while on cabin crew duty.

If you become cabin crew with one of these airlines, you will be based in the following city:

Emirates – Dubai

Etihad – Abu Dhabi

Qatar – Doha

The English language is considered a primary language across the aviation industry. The airlines require a fluent or very good level of English from their cabin crew. This is not only for speaking but also for writing. I can tell you from my own experience that not all the cabin crew speak fluent English. There are many non-native speakers who learned English as a second language and they are not at the fluent level. However, in simple terms, your English should be at least VERY GOOD. Keep in mind that all communication, all training, and manuals are in English and you need to be able to clearly understand the content.

Yes, of course. Check my ebook ‘Cabin Crew Interview Success’ which helped many candidates to pass the recruitment process and they became cabin crew.
