SALARY & BENEFITS
Etihad Airways is still a young airline, established in 2003. It has about 150 nationalities and a total of 24,000 employees worldwide.
Currently (2019) Etihad employs approximately 2,100 pilots and 5,100 cabin crew.
Etihad has its home in the capital of the United Arab Emirates – Abu Dhabi.
CONTRACT
Your employment contract will be sent to you via email. After signing it, you will send it back to Abu Dhabi. The contract is for 3 years with a 6-month probation period. Upon expiration, your contract may be renewed.
SALARY
As the United Arab Emirates will be your second home, you will receive your salary in the local currency, dirhams (AED).
Your salary is tax-free. There is no income tax paid in the UAE. What you earn is yours.
Basic monthly salary (cabin crew): AED 3670 (USD 1000)
During the probation period, your basic salary will be: AED 2500 (USD 680)
Hourly Pay: AED 44 (USD 12)
This salary is calculated from your check-in at the airport to the parking of the aircraft at the final destination. The longer the flight, the more money.
On average, you will work 80-100 hours per month.
Layover Allowance: AED 12-16 (USD 3-4) per hour
Layover allowances count for your stay in the destination. If you do a turnaround flight when you return immediately to Abu Dhabi, these allowances are not paid.
Example: Flight from Abu Dhabi to London with a 24-hour layover. Layover allowance in England is AED 15/hour (24×15=360), approximately USD 100.
On average, you can earn AED 8000 – 9000 (USD 2100-2500) per month. It depends on the number and length of your flights and also whether you have a turnaround or flight with a layover.
CABIN CREW BENEFITS
UNIFORM
The company fully covers uniform and cleaning.
ACCOMMODATION & TRANSPORT
The accommodation is fully covered by the company, including water and electricity. You pay only for TV channels, phone, and internet.
Fully furnished apartments in different locations throughout Abu Dhabi. In the last few years, new accommodation has been built near the airport. You will share the apartment with 1-2 same-gender colleagues.
Visitors are allowed, but a visitor of the opposite sex to you cannot stay overnight.
Most of the buildings have a swimming pool and gym. Some have tennis or basketball courts.
Transport is provided by the company. The shuttle bus will take you from the accommodation to the airport and return to your accommodation after returning from the flight. During any training, transportation is provided to the training center.
MEDICAL INSURANCE
Worldwide health insurance is fully paid by the company.
VACATION & TRAVEL BENEFITS
At the end of the 6-month probationary period, you will have 30 days of annual leave.
You will receive a ticket to your home or nearest destination once a year paid by the company.
An unlimited number of discount tickets for you and your parents. A limited number of discount tickets you can offer to other family members or friends.
