EMIRATES - ASSESSMENT DAY - GUIDE

If you are preparing for a cabin crew assessment day, congratulations! Your big and extremely important day is here! Follow this guide and get an advantage over your competitors. Being prepared is crucial in order to land your dream job!

The interest in this job is enormous and the recruitment process is exhausting. Only perfectly prepared candidates will become future cabin crew.

Take a look at the following steps to clarify the selection process for Emirates.

Emirates uses an intensive recruitment process that includes a personality test, an English test, and various interviews to find the best candidates.

Online Application

The first step of the entire recruitment process is filling in the online application form, which can be found on the official Emirates website.

You will need to fill out personal information and attach the following:

  • updated CV in English
  • 1x full-length photo (business attire)
  • 1x full-length photo (casual)
  • 1x close-up photo (standing, photo from head to waist) – casual
  • 1x passport-size photo (business attire)
  • Certificate of Highest Education achieved

Open Day

Another way to apply is to visit one of many Open Days that are held around the world (previous online registration is not required). Here you will be able to submit your CV for review and you will receive lots of information about Emirates, what they do, and how they do it. If you make a good impression on one of these days, you will be invited to the assessment day.

How to write a correct CV read here.

Open Day – CV Drop Off

You will personally pass on your CV to a recruiter who will briefly look at it and ask you a few questions. Try not to be too nervous, show some confidence, and do not forget to SMILE.

Questions the recruiter may ask:

  • How are you?
  • What do you currently do?
  • Why do you want to be a cabin crew?
  • Why do you want to join Emirates?

There may also be follow-up questions about your experience that the recruiter reads from your CV.

All this will happen very fast. On average within one to two minutes.

According to your CV, your responses, and the overall impression, the recruiter will decide whether to invite you to the Assessment Day.

After handing over the CV of the last candidate, you will see the presentation of the company. This will be followed by a short break, where the recruiter will select successful candidates who will participate in the assessment day.

This usually takes place on the same day (with more candidates, the following day).

This is the end for those who were not invited to the assessment day.

Assessment Day

This type of selection involves many activities and presentations, and several eliminations of unsuccessful candidates will occur during the day. This is a very long and challenging day, so make sure that you are well-rested and full of strength and energy.

Assessment Day consists of the following:

Group Discussion – 1st Part

In this test you will be divided into groups and triplets will be created in each group. Each trio will receive a card with the name of a regular item (eg Toothbrush, Alarm Clock, Candies). Your task is to figure out how this item could be used in an unusual way. You have 5 minutes to discuss and after that, you have to give your opinion to other candidates in your group.

Group Discussion – 2nd Part

The recruiter will add the name of a job to the same subject and your task is to find out how the item from 1st exercise can be used in the given job. Again, a presentation of your result will follow.

After a one-hour break, the names for the next round will be published.

This is the end for those who were not invited to the next round.

Reach Test

In this test, the rules are clear … you have to reach 212 cm (on tip toes allowed). Ladies without shoes, gentlemen will keep their shoes.

Second Group Discussion

Candidates will be divided into groups and each group will have to solve a problem.

Example: There was an error in the car rental at the airport. 20 customers entered orders, but only 10 cars were available. How do you solve the problem?

There are many examples of these group discussions, but they all have the same goal – customer care. Occasionally, at the end of the discussion, one of the recruiters will come and play one of the customers who did not get the car.

There will be another break and elimination of unsuccessful candidates.

Those successful will be moving to the Final Interview.

Final Interview

Emirates introduced a new feature in its recruitment events. The Final Interview, English Test, and Personality Test are done online from the comfort of your home.

Successful candidates fill in the documents and questionnaires needed to issue their possible work visa.

The recruiter will explain how the online final interview will take place and will send you an email with a link to the online platform.

English Test – Online

There is no need to worry about this test. The English Tests are really simple. Expect approximately 30 questions (multiple choice). You will have 20 minutes to complete the test.

Personality Test – Online

This is the completion of a psychometric test. The time limit is between 15-20 minutes. As with all similar personality tests, there is no right or wrong answer. When answering questions, keep in mind the values of Emirates and what this company actually requires from candidates.

Final Interview – Online

You will undergo the final interview at the date agreed beforehand. This is the final step of the selection process.

Here are some popular questions that appeared during the final interviews:

  • What is difficult for you?

  • Describe the stressful event in your life and how you solved it.

  • Have you ever had to deal with a demanding customer? How did you handle it?

  • When did you have to make a difficult decision?

  • What was the worst mistake you’ve ever made?

  • What do you know about Dubai?

  • What do you know about Emirates Airline?

Final interviews can take between 20 and 40 minutes. The result should be communicated to you within 3-4 weeks.

*This description of the assessment day should be used as a guide to your preparation. Airlines can change their recruitment process at any time. No one will tell you what exactly will happen on your assessment day.
